MISSION
Acord was founded in 1991 with the mission of empowering individuals and families to feed themselves in a nutritionally balanced way. We are a nondenominational, green, grassroots organization staffed by more than 120 volunteers and supporting over 7,000 client visits each year.
“I am struggling to get back on my feet and support my child on my own. Most places look solely at your income, which eliminates me from most forms of support. I am so grateful for Acord’s kindness and help.”
SERVICES
We serve our clients through weekly food distributions, holiday meal programs, school vacation lunch bags, school snack closets, senior meals, nutrition education and outreach, and emergency meal assistance. We are proud to work with local farms to provide fresh produce to our clients every week. Acord is a partner of the Greater Boston Food Bank, North Shore United Way, and a member of the North Shore Hunger Network.
“The support of the lunch program last year really helped to close the gap with having to provide the third meal every day.”
898 unique clients came for 7,592 visits
In 2024, we served nearly 900 unique individuals experiencing food insecurity, who each came to Acord an average of 13 times each.
Senior Distribution Day
Thursday mornings are a Senior Distribution Day for our clients who are over 60 years old. Since May of 2019, we have more than tripled the number of senior clients we serve, with 481 seniors helped in 2024.
41,000 lbs. of fresh produce
Last year, we distributed over 41,000 pounds of fresh fruits and vegetables to families in need.
GET INVOLVED
Acord is a community pantry supported by volunteers, individuals, and local businesses. Each month, we rely on more than 120 volunteers to help distribute food, unload weekly deliveries, help staff local events, and more. As a fully self-supported pantry, we also depend on the generous food and monetary donations from individuals, community organizations, and local business. These donations ensure we can serve those in need, develop essential programming, and increase outreach.
